Cardi B Finally Dropping Album… The Wait is Over but Will it be Worth the Wait? By: India Ivyy

The wait is over ladies and gentlemen! What we have been anxiously awaiting is finally coming to pass. Rising hip-hop sensation, Cardi B has officially made the announcement via instagram that she will finally be releasing her 1st debut album, entitled “Invasion of Privacy.”

Cardi B, whom is definitely no stranger in these hip-hop streets, first made herself known  as the breakout star of VH1’s reality television series Love and HipHop: New York, debuting on season six back in 2015. Throughout the seasons you clearly see the constant up and down struggle to stardom for Cardi, but on December 30, 2016, after only two seasons, Cardi was finished announcing her departure from the show to pursue her music.

But the shining star she is, Cardi soon found herself in feat roles for hit series shows including, “Being Mary Jane,” and  “Hollywood Squares,” and even made appearances on “Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne” and Khloe Kardashian’s, “Kocktails with Khloe.” Though it would be her debut single, “Bodak Yellow,” released in the summer of 2017 that would ultimately jumpstart #bardigang pandemonium.

From there the Billboard Hot 100’s and resume speak for itself, Bodak Yellow claimed the #1 spot for 3 consecutive weeks, making her the first person of Dominican descent to reach number one in the history of the Hot 100! Later adding her feats on G Eazy’s “No Limit” and Minos’ “Mototsport” she became the first female rapper to land her first three entries in the top 10 of the Hot 100, and the first female artist to achieve the same on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Oh and I’m sorry did I forget to mention, “Bodak yellow” was certified triple platinum!

Alright so what do we know? Cardi has been killin’ the game for the last 3 years but then again, from what we have to go on, it looks like 1 maybe 2 singles if you include the remix, and a couple feature songs. Now fingers are definitely crossed that this album is everything Cardi has been amping it up to be. I mean you can’t spit lyrics like, “say lil’ bihh you can’t f&$k with me if you wanted to,” or even” you know me cardi b p%**y-p*ppin on the charts,” and not expect the album is not going to be just as cocky and lit as everything else she has been doing. But then again will she deliver??

Check out this tweet from Cardi from last Novemeber expresssing what could be viewed as reservations about her album.

Cardi B tweeted this statement last November after pushing her album date for the second time.

Now while it doesn’t seem like anything to major you have to wonder could Cardi be over before she even starts I mean her release date was originally pushed back twice before because as Cardi put it, “Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs I’m like, I’m buggin’…” Well I guess there is only one way to find out if she is still “buggin'” or if this album is really ready; Invasion of Privacy is set to drop Friday, April 6, will you get your copy?

Think Cardi’s album will live up to expectations? Let us know what you think?

In the meantime, enjoy Cardi’s remix to Bodak Yellow, “Bartier Cardi” feat. 21 Savage.
